Singapore: Garden in the Bay and Visit

During our stay in Langkawi (Malaysia), we met a couple, Sandrine and Eric, who described Singapore as the country to discover with its Little India, Chinatown and surprises. They convinced us. So, Singapore here we are!

Singapore is a bit of the Monaco of Asia. The cost is lower than in Europe but much more expensive than in Malaysia or Thailand. It's simple, for a meal with the same dishes, you pay double, and in Singaporean dollars please.

It was by bus that we arrived in Singapore from Malacca, in the middle of the afternoon and in the rain. We did not know where we were in the country at all. We did not have internet or phone. He is a gentleman at the bus stop who kindly ordered a Grab to go to the hotel. Thanks to him!

Garden by the Bay

Garden by the Bay is a huge park! We have it twice, one at night and the second in broad daylight.

The night visit

In this park, there are tall metal trees that offer a sound and light show every night at 19:45 and 20:45.

So, on our first evening in Singapore, we decided to attend one of these performances which is supposedly beautiful and free. We arrive in the park, which is, even with the absence of brightness, very beautiful including its fountains, vegetation, sculptures on the water. This gives a little mystical, magical side to the place. I tell myself that during the day, it must be superb to watch!

We head to the Supertrees (metal trees) where the show takes place. On site, we see people lying on the ground to have an eye on each tree (there are several). We do the same thing!

The performance begins and we are dazzled from the start by the lights that highlight these metal structures, as well as the music that is very well chosen. The synchronization between lights and music is almost perfect. I let you admire a small excerpt:

It is possible to climb in the central tree if your budget allows you, because the prices ignite quickly in Singapore.

Before and after the show, we took advantage of this atmosphere a little mystical to take some pictures of everything around us in the park.

We have the impression of being in a jungle with all that green!

The visit in broad daylight

So we went back to Garden in the Bay at full day this time to discover all the vegetation in this huge garden. Huge is the right word!

Everything is separated by different sections such as "plants and fruits" or "plants and flowers". We discovered strange specimens. as well as beautiful flowers.

Some plants have been pruned to take the form of animals:

Some plants invade the park's alleys, making them so pretty to look at:

The park is so big that sometimes a little break is necessary. You can choose between:

A wooden bench surrounded by vegetation

A mushroom seat under an iron arbor showing the importance of insects in the cycle of life

In one of the alleys, I had the opportunity to catch a glimpse of a small lizard hiding between the foliage of a tree. I managed to get it on video. Attention, you must have the eye because we see only his little head:

In Garden in the Bayn you will find the famous domes of Singapore:

- Flower dome

- Cloud dome

Both contain more vegetation but also artificial waterfalls. You can find this for 28 Singapore dollars or 18.13 euros. On our side, we stayed outside where we still admired some waterfalls by the windows.

Near the entrance of the domes and the restoration side of the park, magnificent wooden sculptures have exhibited representing various characters, including animals such as lions.

Dozens of sculptures were exhibited at the catering level on stair steps at different heights. You have the impression of being surrounded by a troop of lions, ready to jump on you.

Personally I preferred to discover Gardin in the Bay by night, it was much more mysterious and the lights offered a magnificent spectacle.

Ballad in Singapore

We climbed to the top of a shopping mall where we had a view of virtually all of Singapore. In any case on the most famous monuments of the country.

We were exactly right next to ArtScience Museum.

The museum is recognizable by its imposing structure in the shape of a broken eggshell.

I absolutely wanted to see the Merlion, this half-fish, half-lion statue representing both the ancient fishing town of Singapore and the strength of the country.

Unfortunately, the day we passed, it was impossible to see because it was surrounded by large panels. What a desappointment!

Instead, we could admire a football field on the water ...

Food court

For our meals, we headed to the Food Court. But what is it?

It is a large dining room with several tables surrounded by several restaurant stands. I think the concept is great!

You can eat whatever you want, with your budget because there is something for every taste and price! If your partner wants to eat Chinese and you Indian, it's possible!

There's really everything here, from the noodles stand, the buns stands, the seafood stalls, and the exotic burgers, desserts and drinks stand.

Metro- MRT

Singapore is very well connected, especially by metro. It is possible to move without difficulty.

When you buy a metro ticket:

- the greater the distance, the higher the price

- you actually pay for a round trip

However, you have the choice to just take the go.

Singapore is a very clean country, concerned about the environment (everything is recycled), very respectful of others. This is the first time we see the cars stop in front of the pedestrian crossing while you wait nicely that there is no car to cross in France ...

Small anecdote: In this country, there is no car whose age reaches 20 years. It is mandatory to "return" your car and take another to avoid pollution.
